High-strength drum shell for dry magnetic separation

The drum separator shell is the rotating cylindrical housing of a dry drum magnetic separator. It encloses the magnet assembly or magnetic material (e.g., ferrite or NdFeB elements) and supports continuous separation of ferrous tramp from bulk feed. As feed material flows across the rotating drum, non-magnetic particles fall away while ferrous (magnetic) metals adhere to the drum surface. When the shell carries the metal past the magnetic zone, the tramp iron is released for collection. Made from high-tensile S355 J2+N structural steel (a weldable low-carbon grade) and normalized, the shell offers superior strength, toughness and corrosion resistance. Precision forming and welding ensure minimal runout and tight tolerances. This robust separator drum enables efficient dry magnetic separation (dry magnetic separator) in mining applications, especially for iron ore processing. Dry drum separators reduce water use and are ideal for arid regions, providing long-lasting, reliable performance in harsh environments.

Key Components

Integrated structural components for drum stability

Drum

Main cylindrical shell housing the magnet assembly. Rotates to carry and release ferrous metal for separation.

Riding Ring

Welded ring on drum exterior to transfer weight to support rollers. Ensures stable rotation and proper alignment.

Fish Plate

Overlap plates joining drum shell segments. Reinforce and align welded seams at shell joints.

Drum Stiffener

Circumferential ribs on inner drum wall. Provide additional rigidity to resist hoop stress during rotation.

Gusset

Triangular gusset plates welded between drum and support frame. Strengthen the drum-to-frame connection and overall structure.

Flinger Ring

Peripheral ring at drum discharge end. Uses centrifugal force to fling captured magnetic particles off the drum after separation.

Stiffener

Longitudinal ribs inside drum. Maintain drum shape and reduce bending under axial loads or vibration.

Screw

High-strength bolts/screws. Securely fasten components (rings, stiffeners) and connect shell segments. Ensure tight assembly and structural integrity.

Anti-corrosion export packaging for heavy drums

All drum shells are coated with industrial-grade rust inhibitor and wrapped carefully before packing. Each shell is secured in a fumigation-free wooden crate customized to its dimensions. Inside the crate, timber blocking and foam padding prevent movement. The exterior crate is reinforced with steel straps and corner protectors. Desiccant packs and anti-corrosion papers are included to absorb moisture and prevent rust during transit. Packaging is tailored to the chosen transport mode (sea, rail or air) and complies with international shipping standards.
